About
A county desk, kept by neighbors
Bastropia collects what is happening in Bastrop County: the weekend, the burn ban, the weather, the court agenda, and the phone number you needed last Tuesday.
It covers Bastrop, Elgin, Smithville, Cedar Creek, McDade, Paige, and the county in between. The Lost Pines, the Colorado River, and a long calendar of other people’s plans.
The Bastropia Facebook group is the live room. This site is the desk you can search.
What is official, and what is not
Burn-ban status, court dates, and office numbers are summaries of public pages, with those pages linked. They can go stale. The county, the cities, and 911 are the authorities. Bastropia is not a government website.
Listings and ads
Anyone can submit an event. A person reviews it before it is published. Upgrades make a listing louder. Ads are sold by the week, labeled as sponsored, and kept off the emergency list and the burn-ban status.
Reservations are saved on the desk. Nothing is charged on the form. The publisher sends an invoice, then places the ad or the upgrade.
